Product 1 - Music video
My brief is to produce a music video to a narrative song, aimed towards a primarily 16–25-year-old middle and upmarket media literate audience. My video will follow a filmic structure that somewhat resembles the lyrics within my chosen song, 'I miss you, I'm sorry' by Gracie Abrams, with a storyline of multiple different couples who have recently broken up but end up being in the same place at the same time, narrowly missing each other. This rom-com type situation will be done to appeal to this target audience, and specifically females within that group. Costume and make-up will be simple, casual outfits in order to allow the audience to potentially relate to one of the situations and see themselves within it. This will also be done through the locations that each scene takes place at, with all of them being everyday places familiar to the audience. Additionally, the use of still camera shots varying from long shots to close ups will help to portray the resemblance of a movie. The intention of my music video is to allow my artist to create her own visual interpretation of her song as well as to connect with her audience through shared experiences and I am taking inspiration from 'ceilings' by Lizzy McAlpine in particular, which features a similar narrative, film-like structure.
Product 2 - Website
My website will display similar codes and conventions to those of artists that would fall under the indie-pop genre with my artist. It will consist of lots of images of the artist ranging from album covers to concert photos to behind the scenes photos, allowing for a deeper connection between her and fans. There will be different sections for merch and tour dates for audiences to purchase as well as an 'about me' section to help reach new audiences and expand my artist's fanbase. A neutral colour scheme will be used as well as a minimalistic layout, which is preferred by most 16-25 year olds. My website will be easy to navigate and contain certain features such as a section for fans to send in their own photos from the concerts as this audience participation and interactivity creates a more personal feel.
How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production? (approx. 100 words)
My website will feature the music video as one of the first things you see when you open the page as well as a blooper reel on the 'Media' section of the site. My music video also contains an end card with a website link, social media handles and a QR code to access the website. These will both encourage engagement from the audience and boost the artist's online presence.
